Dear Friends, it is a pleasure to introduce you to the premises of "Ramandolo Club", a residence created after the renovation of a farm house built at the end of XIX century, with the intent to develop the small but prestigious wine area of Ramandolo (a classic dessert white wine, one of the first DOCG wines in Friuli Venezia Giulia). The country house, surrounded by green rolling hills covered with vineyards, is located in a perfect position for you to enjoy the beauty of these lands.
The familiar atmosphere and the owner's welcoming manners make "Ramandolo Club" a great place to taste the classic Ramandolo wine together with the renowned ham of San Daniele, that successfully combines relaxation and rediscovery of the values of rural culture.
This country house recalls the atmosphere of another age, making it a e perfect place to rest after nice strolls in the surrounding nature or visits to the most important sites of the region. The current rural building was built in various stages and the stone door jambs are the remnants of the construction done in the early years of the century. The house, home of the Dri brothers, who were farmers and wine producers, was hardly hit by the earthquake in 1976, and was therefore rebuilt.

Ramandolo Club

The country house was deliberately named "Ramandolo Club" to reminisce the wine production made in the adjacent cellar, one of the oldest in the country, entirely carved into the rock with a vault made of brick and iron sleepers. Inside you can still find some old barrels marked with fire with the initials D.D. The initials identified the proprietor, Domenico Dri, at the local wine exhibition in Nimis, where the wine was sold. This cellar museum has been recently restored, and besides the old barrels you can see an old farm cart and plates dated back in1932.
The production of Ramandolo continued with traditional methods into the seventies: Virgilio and Lino Dri sold their wine under the name of Fratelli Dri (Dri Brothers). A wooden name plate that was exposed at the local festival of "Madonna delle Pianelle" can still be seen there. It is also said that the wine produced in this winery went so far as the Vatican in Rome, where Cardinal Antoniutti, a native of Nimis, required a small amount of it to celebrate the Holy Mass.

Ramandolo - the wine
Ramandolo is a sweet white wine. Its golden colour is enriched by the scent of acacia, ripe fruit, plums and apricots. Its taste is rich and long lasting. Its a slightly tannic, full-bodied wine with an aftertaste of chestnut honey and lime. The first documented evidence of the production of this wine can be found at the beginning of the XVI century. The wine was used as a form of payment to the landowner for his estate.

Food and restaurants
Food and dinners are available upon request to the owner. Agreements have been made with local restaurants, specialized in local food (either meat or seafood) from Friuli Venezia Giulia.
